Professional Background
Dr. Karthik Ramaswamy is a board-certified cardiac electrophysiologist with more than 25 years of experience in the diagnosis and treatment of heart rhythm disorders. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine and fellowships in Cardiovascular Disease and Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology at the University of Texas Southwestern and Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, Texas, and is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, and Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology. He was an Isaac Bashevis Singer full-tuition merit Scholar at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida, and he earned his MD through the Honors Program in Medical Education at the University of Miami School of Medicine, where he received the Medical Trustees Merit Scholarship and the George Tershakovec Prize in Biochemistry.
Dr. Ramaswamy was the first physician in Georgia to perform adult cryoablation and robotic ablation. He served as Assistant Professor at Wake Forest University and the University of Massachusetts, where he trained cardiology and electrophysiology fellows. He established and directed electrophysiology laboratories in the greater Atlanta and St. Louis regions, served as President of the Missouri ACC Foundation, and was Chairman of the Scientific Sessions for the Missouri Chapter of the American College of Cardiology. Nationally, he has been invited by the American Board of Internal Medicine to help establish certification standards for the clinical cardiac electrophysiology examinations. He has published in journals including the New England Journal of Medicine and Heart Rhythm and has been an invited speaker at national and international meetings.
