Dr. Bakhtiar Ali joined Atlanta Heart Specialists after completing his interventional cardiology training at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York.  Prior to that, he spent three years at the University of Texas - Houston for his general cardiology fellowship.  He completed his internal medicine residency at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI.

Both at Mount Sinai and the University of Texas, Dr. Ali was trained by renowned faculty including Dr. Samin Sharma for complex interventions and Dr. Lance K. Gould for nuclear cardiology.  In addition to coronary and peripheral angiography and intervention, Dr. Ali is trained to perform nuclear stress testing, echocardiography and transesophageal echocardiograms (TEE).  He is proficient in advanced invasive imaging techniques including intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) and optical coherence topography (OCT) as well as invasive physiological assessments of coronary lesions using fractional flow reserve (FFR).

Dr. Ali is board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Diseases.  He has also successfully passed the National Board of Echocardiography Exam of Special Competence in Adult Echocardiography.

Dr. Ali spent two years at Atlanta VA Medical Center/ Emory University pursuing his interest in cardiovascular research.  His research interest includes cardiopulmonary resuscitation, emergency management and cardiac arrest.  He has been published in multiple journals including the New England Journal of Medicine and Annals of Internal Medicine.  He has also presented his research at the annual American Heart Association meeting and is a recipient of the American Heart Association's Council on Cardiopulmonary, Perioperative and Critical Care's (CPCC) 2007 Junior Investigator Travel Stipend Award.

Dr. Ali is married with one son.  He personally enjoys spending his free time with his family, playing tennis and traveling.
