Dr. Torres was born in Puerto Rico and raised in Boston, Massachusetts where he was educated at Boston University, culminating in his doctorate degree in medicine in 1993. He moved to Birmingham, Alabama where he did his cardiology fellowship before moving to Atlanta, where he has been residing since 2000.
